*Aug. 30: Zion Lutheran Church service at 8:00AM and 10:45AM; also, at 9:30AM, we will have a groundbreaking ceremony on the south side of the school, asking God to bless our exciting building project! We would love to have you there!
*Sept. 7: Labor Day—No School
*Sept. 10: Early Release at 2:00PM due to volleyball/soccer games. All students will be dismissed at 2:00PM on this date in order to accommodate the volleyball and soccer teams coming from Pueblo.
*Sept. 25: School Carnival: Please sign up at the door to our classroom if you’d like to help! Thanks!

Spelling:
We will be learning unit 3 words this week. The list is enclosed. The pretest will be Monday, Aug. 31, and the final test will be Friday, Sept. 4. Students who get all of the basic words right on Monday will not need to take the final test Friday. (Please note that correct challenge words do not “cancel out” missed basic words.)

Memory Work:
The memory work due next week is enclosed. Students may recite their memory work to me any morning of next week. In religion, we are studying Adam and Eve and their relationship with the Lord.

Math:
We will be working on adding 2s and also our 9s (1+9, 2+9, 3+9, etc.).

Reading:
Just a reminder to please have your child read out loud to you on a daily basis, if possible.

HOME folder:
Please continue to check your child’s HOME folder each evening. Work that has been graded will be on the left-hand side, and work that needs to be completed will be on the right-hand side. It is always very helpful to go through graded work each evening with your child so that he/she can see mistakes and/or make corrections.

Assignment Books:
Students have begun filling out and taking home their assignment books. Just a reminder that if an assignment has been X’d out, it has been completed and turned in. If an assignment is circled, it is homework to be finished, and it should be in the right-hand side of the HOME folder. Thanks!

On a final note…
*Just a reminder that you can access our class blog by going to www.zionmrsbrewer.blogspot.com OR by going to the school website (www.brightonzionlutheran.org), clicking on School, Class Pages, and Mrs. Brewer’s name.
*Mr. Brewer has asked us to send a reminder that students should not wear shorts on chapel days (Wednesdays) if at all possible. Thanks!
*Our chapel offering this quarter will go toward the Brighton Food Pantry.
*We are having a canned food drive throughout September to benefit the Catholic Charities Brighton Food Bank. Drop-off places will be located at the entrance to the school and preschool. If you can help out, that would be great!
God’s blessings on your week!

In Christ,
Mrs. Brewer
