*Also, we have begun a reading program where students can keep track of their at-home reading for each month! A calendar was sent home at the beginning of October. Our goal is 15 minutes of reading a day, or 465 total minutes for the month of October. If your child needs a new calendar, please have him/her see me! Read, read, read! J
English/Language Arts:
We continue to learn about nouns, and we will begin working on descriptive writing. We have sent our first pen pal letters off!
Science:
In science class, we have begun a unit on animals and their habitats. Be looking for information about an upcoming science project….
Social Studies:
A study guide for unit 4 is enclosed. The test will be Wednesday, October 28th. We have gone over this material in class, and we will review together. Students will need to study at home as well. Students will begin bringing their books home each afternoon to practice good study habits.
On a final note…
*Please continue to check your child’s HOME folder and assignment book each evening.
*Just a reminder that you can access our class blog by going to www.zionmrsbrewer.blogspot.com OR by going to the school website (www.brightonzionlutheran.org), clicking on School, Class Pages, and Mrs. Brewer’s name.
*Our chapel offering this quarter continue to go toward the Brighton Food Pantry.
*Students who are absent are responsible for making up their work in a timely manner. This is important for them, so that they don’t fall farther behind in class, and so that I can get their work graded and entered quickly. Thanks so much!
*Just a reminder that we have begun the Yankee Candle Fundraiser! Envelopes are due October 19th. Thanks so much for your help in this fundraiser!
*If your child has a fever, please keep him/her at home.
*Because we have started practicing for our chapel, we will be “off” on our religion lessons with the other second grade class. We will “catch up” over the course of the rest of the year!
In Christ,
Mrs. Brewer
