No memory work next week. Memory work for the week of November 30-December 1 is enclosed. Students may say their memory work any morning of that week.

Math:
We continue to work on 100 addition facts. We have begun working on subtraction facts (1s, 2s) as well.

Reading:
*No sight words next week. New sight words will go home Tuesday, Dec. 1, and will need to be returned Friday, Dec. 4.
*Also, the BookIt program continues this month. Our goal is 15 minutes of reading a day, or 450 total minutes for the month of November. All November calendars are due December 1st. New calendars will be given out at that time. Students who do complete their reading goal for November will get a certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! Have your child let me know if he/she needs a new calendar.

English/Language Arts:
We continue to study verbs: present and past, and subject-verb agreement, the verb “have,” commas in dates, and explanatory writing.

Science:
We took an open book test on unit B. Some students did choose to re-take that test. This was an option because it was our first open book test. We have now begun learning about geology: the earth’s crust, rocks, sand, soil, fossils, etc.

Social Studies:
We have begun learning about our continents and oceans, as well as how to read and use maps! Enclosed is a map of our 7 continents and 4 oceans. We will be taking a quiz on this information before Christmas break. (An exact date has not been set yet, but will be given several days in advance.) We have begun practicing in class, and will continue to review, but students will need to practice and study at home as well. December 4, I will send home an example of the test for further study and review, and then students will take the quiz the following week (Dec. 7-11). More information coming….

On a final note…
*Please continue to check your child’s HOME folder and assignment book each evening.
*Just a reminder that you can access our class blog by going to www.zionmrsbrewer.blogspot.com OR by going to the school website (www.brightonzionlutheran.org), clicking on School, Class Pages, and Mrs. Brewer’s name.
*Scholastic book orders have been sent off. We are awaiting their return. A HUGE thank-you to Mrs. South for taking care of our order! We TRULY appreciate it!
*It is that time of the year when students begin running low on school supplies. Would you please ask your child if he/she is low on anything? Thanks so much!
*My prayer is that your Thanksgiving will be full of the peace and love of Jesus!
God’s blessings on your week!
In Christ,
Mrs. Brewer
